We're headed out tomorrow for a much needed vacation and a little anniversary celebration. woooo hoooo Sand Key-Clearwater here we come! We have big plans to do absolutely NOTHING! Yay!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! xo

The construction team was hard at work this weekend trying to make up for lost time due to Fay. (We were so surprised, but very happy.)

When we visited on Saturday they had just started the second story floor in our unit. On our Sunday visit we were elated to see they had finished laying all of our floor joists.

There are stacks of framed walls sitting in front of each unit. We're hoping to see the second floor framed next weekend. :)

After, After... Fay

I must have pissed Fay off with that picture of Mr. Twig...
She decided to stay awhile and invited a few hundred of Mr. Twigs relatives to her party.
The yard is reminiscent of Fall, except the leaves are still green...and they don't look like maple... and it's still hot... and...you get the picture.

We had a few hours of sunshine on Sunday morning and Jonathan started cleanup on the front yard. By the time he finished he had filled an entire construction sized trash bag. :O

Ki has been hard at work helping with the cleanup, eating as many sticks as his little belly can handle. Thoughtful, but not bright. ;)

When it's all said and done, we were extremely fortunate. A few trash bags full of twigs is no comparison to the loss many suffered. With gratitude...

After Fay... :)

Looks like Mother Nature and Fay were kind to us. ( and my mom) :)

It rained very hard from 8p until around 5a. The wind was pretty intimidating as it blew through the trees but fortunately, for us, all Fay left was a few twigs.

Time to unpack the garage!
Thanks for the well wishes...

Waiting for Fay...

Ki waiting for Fay and looking unimpressed. ;)

Not much happening here yet.

We moved EVERYTHING outside...IN. The garage is packed with all things outdoor, all the way down to the "Tia's Garden" sign to the doggies frisbees. Even the grill is in the garage. LOL We're all stocked up on ice, canned food (this is the only time we'd buy Chef Boyardee Ravioli) batteries, flashlights, radio and water should we lose power. (Thanks Mom for the Hurricane Survival Package!)

Jonathan worked from home today but it looks like things will really pick up over night. The sky is starting to look a little darker and the wind is picking up a bit. As for now... there's just a one tiny twig on the car.

The "Cop-ler" radar hasn't gone off yet. So for now she's chilling and waiting with Ki. Hopefully there won't be too much thunder, we all know she HATES that!

Stay Tuned...
xo

This weeks visit brought us a great surprise! They started framing the first floor. It's actually starting to seem real. ;) Walking into a hallway is way cooler than walking into a big concrete room.

The first four units are framed, four more to go.

We also just realized that everyone has been responding to the emails blogger sends out! They go to a different account than what we use everyday so we had no idea, until today! Thanks for all of your wonderful comments! (late) ;)

If you follow the link it should take you to the blog www.carrizzocafe.blogspot.com
You can also make posts there.

Also, I am trying something new this week. I am loading images from flickr.com You should be able to click on the image and be taken to more images. Guess we'll see how that works out...

love to everyone! xoxoxox

Construction Update 8.09.08

Front of our house with roofline. :)

Inside of house, from back looking to front door and garage.

A very happy Jonathan, modeling the mega window in the office. :)

The scaffolding is now down and we have a roof line! wooo hoooo! We walked inside the four walls for the first time today, it was surreal. ;) There are now 5 out of the 8 units in our building sold. Hope we have cool neighbors.

ps Happy Birthday Susan ;) wooo hoooo

Construction Update 8.2.08

The second story blocking is underway and a roofline is in site! (We're #706 in the pic. Click it to enlarge.)
Our sales chica said they are moving a bit ahead of schedule. Since it has been raining mostly at night the scheduled "rain days" haven't been used... that's good for us!! wooooo hoooo

Chocolate Party... mmmmmmmmmm

On Saturday I participated in a girl's only chocolate party at Ferris and Fosters in Baldwin Park. woooooooo hoooooooooo what a good time! I haven't seen this much chocolate since my childhood vacations to Hershey Park. Milk, dark, white, truffles, molds, peanut butter cups, twinkies run under a waterfall of chocolate! OMG!

This was such a fun experience! For $20 I had the opportunity to make 1lb of anything I wanted! Sadly, it's only Sunday and it almost gone. :O

Monday night is family night and Friday night is date night. How cool is that. Can't wait to go again!

Sorry for the quality of the pics, all I had was my cell phone camera. :)

Copley + Ki

The "Grandmaaa"... "GrandPaaaa" head turning trick works on both Copley and Ki and has brought many hours of amusement. And finally a cute pic of them together. tee hee... they're so cute!

Construction Update :)

Stopped by to check out the progress of our house today. :) Looks like they have just completed blocking the first floor. Once this phase is inspected they will pour concrete columns (in between the blocks) and then begin blocking the second floor. wooo hooo!
We are #706, 3rd from the left.

As it all turns out... our house will be Yellow, not Green. :(
Either way, it's better than Peach!

Beso // R.I.P. 1992-2008

After many, many hours of discussion Jonathan and I finally came to terms with the idea that it was in Beso's best interest that we end his suffering. His health had deteriorated quickly over the last few months leaving him at a mere 5lbs, his body unable to compete with the most likely culprit, cancer.

Saturday morning we fed Beso a gourmet breakfast of chunk Tuna and told him it was time to go on vacation, a kitty cruise with all his friends.

I think he must of understood... He laid down with out a fight as if to say "Thank You" and sailed away on his kittie cruise with hopes of catching more Tuna. :)

Our New House

Jonathan and I bought our first home this past weekend and finalized everything this week. After looking for several months we found exactly what we were looking for, minus a yard :( . We lucked out with a 1900 sq. ft., 3 bed, 2.5 bath, den, garage, new construction townhouse in a gated community in Winter Park. wooooooo hoooooooooo AND... it's green!!! It's 5 miles from our current house and centrally located to everything. All this and a ton of design upgrades (included) how could we resist!

The builders broke ground this week and we are scheduled to close in December, just in time for Christmas! :)

Now you have no excuse not to visit! xoxo

Oakley's Overboard

Last Saturday we went Kayaking with friends at Wekiwa Springs in Apopka. Being it was our first time kayaking together it took a few strokes to figure out how to maneuver the thing. As we were taking in the beauty of the river, Jonathan turned to talk to a friend behind us and as he did his Oakley's went overboard. We turned around, spotted them on the the river floor and even had them on our oars...but they fell off. After several failed attempts to locate them again Jonathan decided he was going in to look for them. Yes, Jonathan who is afraid of dark water! Other passer-by-ers told us they had spotted an alligator up stream but it didn't even phase him. One kayaker even lent him her "pink" goggles. (Very cute LOL) After a valiant effort all he found was a woman's pair of Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses, not his sporty/manly Oakley's.

To add insult to injury... Jonathan's shirt had gotten soaked when he returned to the kayak so he left it off. Not thinking that we only applied sunblock to his forearms, neck and face. :( He ended up with a severe reverse farmer's sunburn and suffered gravely for the first part of the week.

The rest of the journey was beautiful (once we accepted our loss). Can't wait to return... but this time with a neck holder of some type on our sunglasses. :)

Gas Pimp

Yesterday morning after dropping Jonathan off at the airport, for a trip to Pittsburgh, the gas light came on. I found the closest gas station, popped the fuel door open and jumped out to fill up. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price; $5.199 for regular, $5.299 for plus and a whopping $5.399 for premium. I wanted to scream "WTF"! I looked around to see if any other consumers had the same look of disbelief as I and to my amazement the place was full of people loading up on the WAY overpriced gas. Being that I was on empty, I shoved my anger into my gut and inserted my debit card into the mouth of the gas pimp before me. I decided I would only spend $10.00 (which equated to less that 2 gallons) and then make my way to Costco where gas is only $3.38/gal. I drove away making a mental list of all the things I could have bought for $10.

Out with the Old in with the New :)

Copley and Ki decided it was time for Jonathan's bachelor love seat to be put down. After several failed attempts by Ki, big sister Copley came in to finish the deed.

Today we received our awesome new queen sleeper sofa! Jonathan vetoed the cheery green that I loved and we finally agreed on a more neutral color, Montreal Cement. (How could we resist a sofa named after our honeymoon destination.)

wooooooooo hooooooooooooo! So come for a visit and sit then sleep on our new sofa sleeper. (or the bed in the guest room. )
xoxo JonTia :)

Gone are the factories...

Jonathan had the, eh hem, pleasure of visiting Pittsburgh this week for two days. The city once known for its heavy manufacturing is now the newest addition to Jonathan's portfolio of offices he covers.

The office is located very close to the airport, so no need for a rental car. :) However, after a short taxi ride to the DoubleTree downtown we now know that "his" DoubleTree is also located at the airport. tee hee. Oh the the joys of travel.

The café is OPEN :)

Hi All,
We thought we'd try our hand at a blog to keep connected on the little (and sometimes big, silly, stupid and mundane) things in our life.  The stuff we miss in each others lives from being geographically separated. I'm not the best writer, I lack sufficient time to craft anything of real substance :), and I can be quite dorky. So be warned. :O

Along with our entries we'll post a few photos with a link to "more pics" at jontia.shutterfly.com. You know how I like pictures! :)  Feel free to post a comment and communicate with us as we continue on our journey. :)
